While working on a book about women distance runners, writer Harry Hall stumbled across the virtually untold story of the pedestriennes, the professional female endurance walkers who dazzled 1870's America with their on and off track exploits. Fascinated by the pedestriennes, Harry spent nearly 15 years touring the country conducting research that included interviewing descendants of the pioneering women athletes. The result is the first book ever written on these women, the nationally-acclaimed, The Pedestriennes, America's Forgotten Superstars.
The speaker is one-time 2:27 marathoner and two-time Boston finisher Harry Hall, who has written for several publications during his 25 year writing career, including The Dallas Morning News. Additionally, Harry is an award-winning radio talk show host, and teaches public speaking at the University of Dallas. He lives in north Texas with his wife Susie, teen son Zane, and Zane's best friend, Scamp (Pooch) Hall. While working on a book about women distance runners, writer Harry Hall stumbled across the virtually untold story of the pedestriennes, the professional female endurance walkers who dazzled 1870's America with their on and off track exploits.
